Rest In The Heavens Above

Grandmother, whom I adored ever so much

No longer here on earth, but in the heavens above

Oh how I'll miss your smile and your laughter so big and full of life.

Now you sore in the sky you're an angel so high

You are now with our maker; tell me what is he like?

Are your day's filled with song and praise,

do you sway to the music that angel harps play?

Grandmother, whom I adored ever so much

How you will be missed and never forgotten.

I shall remember your scent, your voice and your every feature.

After all you were one of my teachers

You've taught me so much and so many life lessons.

Grandmother, whom I adored ever so much

Rest now; ever so peaceful in the heavens above.

Angel In The Window

I see you in the window as you wave goodbye to me.

I hear you say a drop of milk as I go to make tea.

The stories of your life sounded like straight from a book.

Your adventures inspired me with every step I took.

My memories now come flooding in,

Of games, cards and a two pence win.

The warmth of home, that cooking smell;

We all have memories of being fed well.

You never stopped believing in all I could do.

With you behind me, I took off and flew.

You eased all my doubts and fears.

I just assumed you would always be here.

I know it's for the best; no more pain, you're finally free.

An angel in the window as you wave goodbye to me.

Sleep Now, Nana

Although I cannot see you,

I feel your presence near.

I will hold you close in memory,

Till I drop my very last tear.

So sleep now with the angels,

And let your golden heart rest.

Although our hearts are broken,

We know God has the best.

So dance beyond those golden gates,

And join your loving Mum.

I'll see you when I'm sleeping

And pray for you to come.

And although this ache is painful,

And I really don't want to let you go,

One day the angels will take me,

So we can together glow.

Until that day, I'll close my eyes

and see your smiling face.

I'll lock you up inside my heart

Until we again embrace.

So rest now, my beautiful Nana.

I'll never forget how much you have done.

So until my hand meets yours again,

Sleep now in the sun.

(Jesus our Victories Won because

They Live Beyond the Sun)

My Grandmother

In my rose garden of memories,

I see you standing there,

An angel in disguise,

Who taught me how to care.

I long to hear your voice

for real - not in my dreams.

I am missing you so much these days.

How empty my world seems.

The emptiness I am feeling now

is strong and I am weak.

These days go by without you,

so dreary and so bleak.

In my rose garden of memories

I know you'll always be

for though you're gone from this world,

in my heart you'll always be.

Grandma’s Love

Thank you for the gift of love.

Now you're sharing it up above.

You had many things to say,

All in a caring way.

You always saw good in everyone,

No matter what they've done.

You were always the one we could all lean on,

Even though it must have felt like a ton.

You were always the strength of the family.

Now we must let you rest calmly.

We say goodbye,

As tears roll down our eyes.

I know your place in heaven has a good view.

You're telling God

I need to keep an eye on a few.

I know you will always be in our hearts and minds.

So Grandma,

I must go, but I'll never forget you're one of a kind.

Grandma My Teacher

Grandma,

A baby cradled in your arms...

Teaching me your gentle charms.

Growing up with you by my side...

Learning from you never to lie.

To understand and not judge too...

Love and kindness I also learned from you.

Through the years you watched me grow...

Teaching me everything I'd need to know.

Listening to every word I've said...

And every word I wrote you've read.

You've been there for me to the end...

Until the day for you, God did send.

Now you watch me from up above...

Shining down on me your heavenly love.

I will miss you with all my heart...

Thank you for being there from the start.

One Of A Kind

The funny beautiful lady

That means so much to me

May be gone to the Land of the living

But with me still she will always be

Because my memory holds her dearly

And my pen recalls her ways

And most of all I love her

A love that always stays

It stays inside my memory

And is often on my mind

Because a lady like my grandma

Is rare and hard to find.

Grandma I Remember

Grandma I remember

when you would sing a song

you would encourage

us all to sing along

and you would sit and rock

and read the bible

while we would play

I can still see it

as you held it in your hands

well worn from all your reading

and learning of God’s plans

grandma I remember

don't worry about me

you taught us all so well

years ago upon your knee.

A Grandmother's Love

She was so nice and so sweet.

She had a big family and lots of friends

She was a grandmother that meant so much to me

But I never imagined the picture saying goodbye

Never thought the day would come

That I would see her one last time

She was always there when no one else was

She never left my side

That's what a loving grandmother does

She was there with me through thick and thin

But who ever knew

Her time would end

I would give up even dollar, quarter, or dime

I'd give up my whole world

Just so I can see you one more time

My Memory Library

Imagine if I was given one moment,

just a single slice of my past.

I could hold it close forever,

and that moment would always last.

I'd put the moment in a safe,

within my heart's abode.

I could open it when I wanted,

and only I would know the code.

I could choose a time of laughing,

a time of happiness and fun.

I could choose a time that tried me

through everything I've done.

I sat and thought about what moment

would always make me smile.

One that would always push me

to walk that extra mile.

If I'm feeling sad and low,

if I'm struggling with what to do,

I can go and open my little safe

and watch my moment through.

There are moments I can think of

that would lift my spirits every time.

The moments when you picked me up,

when the road was hard to climb.

For me to only pick one moment

to cherish, save and keep

is proving really difficult,

as I've gathered up a heap!

I've dug deep inside my heart,

found the safe and looked inside

There was room for lots of moments;

in fact, hundreds if I tried.

I'm building my own little library,

embedded in my heart,

for all the moments spent with you

before you had to part.

I can open it up whenever I like,

pick a moment and watch it through,

My little library acts as a promise

I'll never ever forget you.

I Miss You, Grandma

I think about you all the time,

And every day it hurts to cry.

So much has happened in my life.

I'm not sure how hard to try.

Tears are falling constantly.

My heart hurts every day.

I think about your beautiful smile

That I pray I see again someday.

The sweet smell of your perfume

Has slowly faded away.

But all your helpful teachings

Are always here to stay.

I can't express how much you taught me,

So much I can't explain.

All the times I can remember,

Never once heard you complain.

So many hearts were broken

The day God called you home.

It seems as though each one of us

Was left to survive alone.

I know there was a reason

That you had to leave.

To keep us in your watchful eyes,

So now in God I really do believe.
